'tis the season
my cell rang yesterday afternoon, and it was brian, the season ticket sales manager with the a's; he's always incredibly peppy and positive. the beginning of our conversation went something like this...
brian: hey, becca! i'm calling to follow up on season tickets! I remember that you and your boyfriend... wait, are you two still together?
becca: yep.
brian: hey, congratulations!!!!!!! yeah! awesome! that's great!!!!!!!!!!!!
i listened to his spiel, and later talked with t. about the green & gold pack (14 games, half weekend/fireworks/premium, half monday-friday), but the fact that we couldn't exchange tickets like the other plans just doesn't work with our current lifestyle. also, the per-ticket price isn't that large of a difference: $28 vs. $30 or $35. and we can't pick dates by promotion... all in all, i'd also rather not be stuck with tickets that i can't resell (as we observed last year on stubhub).
so thank you, brian, for your ferocious fist pumping and pat on the back. but even though we're 11 1/2 years strong, we're just not ready to commit to a gaggle of season tickets. baby steps, man. baby steps.

but i love the calls. you are lucky to get the calls.
they do not call any more out here. once upon a time, getting the call was one of my boyfriend's favorite things.
